Time for a Holiday Giveaway!
If only there was a booklet out there to help you keep track of cultural happenings in Brussels. Oh, wait...
Happy Friday, friends.
Brussels is a city of politics, but also one of Europe’s hubs for visual arts, contemporary dance and design. There’s a lot going on here.
In fact, Brussels’ cultural layers are so expansive that keeping up with everything going on is a tall order.
This year, for a second time, I am proud to be one of the culture reporters invited to contribute recommendations to the Brussels Culture Guide 2025 — now out in bookstores.
The Brussels Culture Hotlist features 100 recommendations from a few of us who’ve devoted quite a bit of time over the years to getting to know this glorious city.
It features a combination of events (including upcoming exhibits, concerts and festivals) and locations you can visit all year round (like the city’s many Art Nouveau buildings).
Do you want a copy?
I’m partnering up with the Foundation for the Arts and Visit.Brussels, the guide’s publishers, to give away 5 (!!) free copies to readers of Nap at the Opera.
Interested? Let me know by responding to this email.
Of course, Nap at the Opera will continue keeping you updated on the goings on about town next year — but the guide is a great starting point.
Events
Last week’s issue focused on events taking place in Brussels in December, so I invite you to revisit that one if needed — but here are a few more things:
An intimate winter concert will take place at the Fondation CAB, near Flagey, on December 18. Tickets and info here.
The Entreprenoires Winter Market, on Saturday December 21st, at La Bellone. (Belgian Entreprenoires is a company highlighting female entrepreneurs of color)
Wiels, the contemporary art museum in Forest, is showing the work of one of their former artist-in-residence until January. More details here.
You can see a good chunk of the Frederick De Goldschmidt Collection at Cloud Seven. He owns quite a few interesting pieces of note from the 1960-70s.
Piece of the Week
An Art Antwerp sneak peek, courtesy of Instagram. This lovely lady can be found at Keteleer Gallery’s booth.
The fair is on through the weekend, I’ll be there tomorrow. If you go too, I’d love to see your favorites!
Last week I gave away 2 VIP tickets for the fair. The lucky winner was Richard Blais, of Creative Europe fame. Enjoy the fair, Richard.
